Honorable Consul General Leroy F. Major is a former Police Officer and Businessman who is now serving in his new role as the Consul General of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas to New York in the United States.

Consul General started his tremendous career as a young civilian volunteer at the Bahamas Kiwanis Club a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world and the Boys Brigade Club where he took leadership as President-elect.

Born in Nassau, where he received his primary and secondary education, Mr. Major fulfilled his long-time aspiration by enrolling at the Royal Bahamas Police Force Training College in 1981, where he graduated with honors. Since then, he has served throughout the Family Islands as well as the Bureaus in the City of New Providence. As a police officer, Mr. Major has worked a variety of assignments including Patrol, Field Training Officer, and Criminal Investigation. Due to his specialized training in protective services, Mr. Major was selected as personal Aide to the Deputy Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas.

In 1992, Consul General Major entered the banking and private security industries where he undertook an eight-year career with City Bank and The National Worker Corporative Credit Union respectively. He then went on to become the founder of Vintage Security Services Limited, a private Security Company which provided personal security services to Government and local businesses throughout the Bahamas. In 2003 Consul General Major was appointed Director of Security for the Four Seasons Hotel on the island of Exuma, The Bahamas.

Following his appointment as director at the Four Seasons Hotel, in 2009, he was appointed by the United States Department of State, to become a special Aide to the Ambassador, Extraordinary, and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America, to The Bahamas.

In 2010, Mr. Major left the Securities sector and re-entered the private business field, being appointed as an Executive in the management team at Campbell’s Shipping Company Limited. He held his position until December 2022 when he became the Consul General of The Bahamas to New York.

Honorable Consul General Leroy F. Major underwent extensive training in National Security Governance, Security Negotiations, and Criminal Investigation, at the United States Department of State, Scotland Yard Police Headquarters, Westminster, England, and India, from 2010 to 2022, when he became the Consul General of The Bahamas to New York.

Mr. Major is married to Ranria Major; they have one son Rashad and a grandson Royce Major.
